Abia State University (ABSU) has scheduled its 44th Matriculation Ceremony and released the key instructions for students expected to take part. The ceremony is compulsory for fresh students who have met the stated requirements; students should read each item and act fast (nobody wants last-minute confusion).

Who will matriculate
ABSU listed the categories of students expected to matriculate:
Postgraduate students
- Postgraduate students who are not graduates of Abia State University
First year undergraduate students
- All First Year Undergraduate students of the Regular programme
- First Year Undergraduate students of the Institute for Continuing Education (ICE) who have paid their school fees
Other cleared students
- Other duly admitted and cleared students who, for good reasons, could not matriculate in their year of admission
Each student should confirm their category; ABSU spelled it out plainly, so nobody should guess.
Matriculation regalia and brochure fee
The hiring cost of the matriculation regalia (gown and cap) and brochure is N15,000.00 only.
Matriculating students should pay at the ABSU Micro-Finance Bank, Uturu only (yes, Uturu only; no side options).
Payment deadline and collection date
Payment should be made on or before Tuesday, 24 Feb 2026. ABSU stated that issuance of matriculation materials will commence on Wednesday, 25 February 2026; students should plan around that schedule.
Eligibility and compulsory notice
ABSU stated that the matriculation ceremony is compulsory for all fresh students. Only bonafide students who have:
- accepted their offer of admission,
- paid their fees, and
- registered their courses (as appropriate),
will be eligible for the ceremony.
Students are expected to be properly guided; ABSU made the conditions clear.
