The Role of Vice-Chancellor
The Vice-Chancellor serves as the Chief Accounting and Academic Officer of the university.
The role includes advising the Council on finance and administration matters, maintaining peace and order, managing university affairs, enforcing university regulations, and overseeing student admissions according to Senate guidelines.
The Vice-Chancellor also holds the position of ex-officio member of the Council and serves as the Chairman of the Senate.
Qualities and Qualifications Needed
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold the rank of Professor for at least ten years in a respected university.
- Have high academic standing and a good reputation within their field.
- Be familiar with the academic and managerial challenges of a large university.
- Have comprehensive experience in university administration.
- Be respected both nationally and internationally in academic circles.
- Show a track record that inspires respect and loyalty among staff and students.
- Demonstrate integrity and strong moral character.
- Be physically and mentally fit and in good health.
- Be under the age of 65.
