British Canadian University (BCU) Appoints New VC
The British Canadian University (BCU), located in Obudu, Cross River State, has announced the appointment of Professor Adekojo Waheed as its new Vice-Chancellor. The appointment, approved by the university’s Board, is for a five-year tenure.
Professor Waheed is a well-known scholar and administrator with years of academic and leadership experience. Before joining BCU, he served as a Professor of Thermofluids and Fluid Mechanics at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), where he also held the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
Academic and Professional Background of Prof. Waheed
Professor Waheed earned his Doctor of Engineering Science (Dr. Eng. Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering from Aachen University of Technology (RWTH) in Germany. He also holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ilorin, where he graduated with Second Class Honours (Upper Division).
His academic excellence has earned him several notable awards, including a Commonwealth Fellowship at the University of Bath, United Kingdom, and a DAAD Scholarship for his doctoral research in Germany. He was also recognised as the Best Graduating Student and University Scholar in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ilorin.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated Professor Waheed on his appointment, describing it as well-deserved. He expressed confidence that the new Vice-Chancellor would bring a wealth of academic experience and administrative insight to British Canadian University (BCU).
Professor Waheed is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FNIMechE). He is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). His leadership is expected to strengthen BCU’s academic development and global partnerships.
