BSU Bans Students from Visiting River Side
The management of the Benue State University (BSU) has banned students of the institution from visiting River Benue and around the fringes of the river bank following the drowning of two Students of the University in on Friday, 12th April, 2019.
The 241st Meeting of Principal Officers held on Monday, 10th June, 2019 considered and approved referral of the recommendations of the report of the Administrative Committee to investigate the Immediate and Remote Causes of the Drowning of two Students of the University in River Benue on Friday, 12th April, 2019.
Consequently, Management resolved as follows:
i. All social activities in the River Benue and indeed around the fringes of the river bank are hereby prohibited.
ii. Where and when any activity demands that students must visit the river side, arrangements must be made to provide life Jackets and for such students to be accompanied by Security Staff and Professional Swimmers.
iii. Officials of the Students Unions in particular should internalize this memo and ensure its wide publicity for all students, including those newly admitted.
iv. Henceforth, any students who go against the instructions on this subject as conveyed here do so at their own risk.
