Introduction to CApIC-ACE

Under the World Bank funded African Centre of Excellence IMPACT project (ACE-IMPACT), CApIC-ACE is inviting motivated applicants from Nigeria and West & Central Africa into various Masters and PhD degree programmes. These include Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Information & Communication Engineering (ICE).

Successful applicants will be eligible for sponsorship and a rigorous 3-month English Language Training (especially beneficial for French-speaking applicants).

CApIC-ACE was established to build a critical mass of indigenous African scientists. These professionals will have the necessary skills in bioinformatics, molecular biology, and information & communications engineering. They will drive and sustain impactful research in areas of malaria, prostate and breast cancer, and cloud & high performance computing related to personalized medicine.

Admission Requirements

Master’s Programme Requirements

To be eligible for the Master’s programme, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Academic Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 (Second Class Upper) from any recognised university in Nigeria, West, or Central Africa.
• Programme Duration: The minimum duration for the Master’s programme is two academic sessions on a full-time basis.

Ph.D. Programme Requirements

Applicants for the Ph.D. programme must satisfy these requirements:

• Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from any recognised university in Nigeria, West, or Central Africa. Ph.D. candidates must have:
  • A minimum CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale or its equivalent in M.Sc./M.Eng/M.Tech.
  • A minimum CGPA of 3.5 (Second Class Upper) in the Bachelor’s degree.
• Exclusion: Candidates with professional Master’s degrees are not eligible for the Ph.D. programme.
• Programme Duration: The minimum duration for the Ph.D. programme is three academic sessions on a full-time basis.
