DELSU screening extension 2025/2026: new deadline
Summary
DELSU has extended 2025/2026 screening by 1 week; it now ends Fri 23 Jan 2026.
- Accept DELSU admission on JAMB portal by Wed 21 Jan 2026
- Complete screening by Fri, 23 Jan 2026
- Failure can lead to loss of admission for 2025/2026
- Matriculation number comes after full admission process
- Until then, they remain candidates, not students
Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has extended the screening exercise for newly admitted candidates for the 2025/2026 academic session by one (1) week.
The university stated that screening will now end on Friday, 23rd January 2026. The extension is to enable the university forward the matriculation lists of newly admitted students to JAMB, in line with the 2025/2026 admission guidelines.
New screening deadline (extended)
DELSU confirmed that the screening exercise will now end on:
- Friday, 23 Jan 2026
This is an extension of one week; candidates should work with the new closing date, not the old date.
JAMB portal acceptance deadline (do this first)
DELSU specifically advised candidates who have received provisional admission (UTME and Direct Entry) but have not accepted it on the JAMB portal to do so on or before:
- Wednesday, 21 January 2026
After accepting on the JAMB portal, candidates are expected to complete screening before the screening deadline.
Who this notice affects
The extension applies to:
- Newly admitted candidates for 2025/2026
- UTME candidates and Direct Entry candidates
- Candidates with provisional admission who still need to accept on JAMB and finish screening
What happens if a candidate does not comply
DELSU warned that failure to accept admission on the JAMB portal and complete the admission process to obtain a matriculation number will lead to:
- Loss of admission for the 2025/2026 academic session
That warning is direct; candidates should not ignore it (even if the deadline feels close).
Status note: candidate vs student
DELSU stated that until all admission requirements are duly fulfilled, such persons remain candidates and not bonafide students of Delta State University, Abraka.
That is the University’s official position in the notice.
Final instruction to candidates and screening officers
Candidates yet to present themselves for screening are advised to use the extension and complete their screening within the stipulated period. The notice is also for screening officers and candidates concerned; everyone is expected to follow the directive.
