DELSU approves 2026 Work-Study Aid Scheme for undergraduates
The Delta State University (DELSU) Management, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has approved the 2026 DELSU Work-Study Aid Scheme.
The scheme is an on-campus, part-time programme meant to support indigent undergraduate students financially. It allows selected students to earn a monthly Allowance while they continue their studies, without disrupting academic activities.
What the Work-Study scheme covers
Approved students will work in designated university units. The duties focus on general, non-hazardous support services (basic support tasks, not risky work); DELSU keeps the roles within safe, approved units.
Who can apply
Applicants must meet these conditions:
- The applicant must be a registered full-time DELSU undergraduate.
- The applicant must show genuine financial need.
- The applicant must be in good academic standing, with a CGPA of 2.40 or above.
- The applicant must have no serious disciplinary record.
Work hours and academic schedule
DELSU will structure work hours around lecture periods. The schedule requires only a few hours per week, and it must not interfere with academic performance (schoolwork stays first).
Students who get priority
DELSU will give priority to:
- Indigent students
- Students without existing scholarships
- Students recommended by their Departments or the Student Affairs Division
How to apply and deadline
Interested and qualified students should submit their applications to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) on or before Thursday, 22nd January, 2026.
A quick reminder: successful applicants will receive a monthly-based allowance, in line with university policy, not a full-time salary.
