Edo State University postpones physical resumption

Edo State University, Iyamho postpones undergraduate and JUPEB physical resumption as halls renovation continues

The management of Edo State University, Iyamho (formerly Edo University Uzairue) has announced the postponement of the physical resumption of academic activities for all undergraduate and JUPEB students. The notice applies across the affected undergraduate and JUPEB cohorts, without exceptions stated in the circular.

The decision was approved at an Emergency Senate Meeting held on Wednesday, 7 January 2026.

Reason given: halls of residence renovation

The university links the postponement to ongoing renovation works in the Halls of Residence. On that basis, undergraduate and JUPEB students are to remain off campus until further notice.

A new date for physical resumption will be communicated in due course, as stated by the management (timing was not specified in the notice).

Online lectures and the attendance requirement

While students remain off campus, all undergraduate students have been directed to take part in online lectures, which have already commenced. The management also restated the attendance rule: students must attain at least 70 per cent lecture attendance to qualify to sit for examinations.

That single requirement, repeated in the notice, sets the standard for examination eligibility.

Postgraduate resumption date

Postgraduate students were given a separate instruction. They are to resume physically on Monday, 12 January 2026, for the continuation of first semester lectures for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Signatory on the notice

The notice was signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Vincen ERHAGBE.
