Ekiti State University (EKSU) has concluded arrangements for the 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony for all freshmen. The university fixed the date, venue, and time; every new student is expected to be present for formal matriculation.
EKSU states that matriculation is essential. Any freshman who fails to matriculate will be treated as having withdrawn voluntarily from the university.
Matriculation Date, Venue, and Time
The ceremony is scheduled to hold as follows:
- Date: Friday, 6th February, 2026
- Venue: University Main Auditorium
- Time: 10:00 a.m.
Why Freshmen Must Matriculate
EKSU describes matriculation as compulsory for freshmen. The university states that if a student fails to matriculate, the university will assume the student has withdrawn voluntarily; that position is clear, and it affects a student’s status.
Robe Collection and Return Schedule
When and where to collect the robe
Freshmen are to collect their matriculation robes:
- Between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, 5 February 2026
- From their Faculty Officers
Before robe collection, each candidate will be required to show:
- The original copy of the Letter of Admission
- Evidence of Registration (screened and cleared)
When to return the robe
The robe should be returned in good condition to the collection centre:
- Not later than 2:00 p.m. on Monday, 9th February, 2026
Fines and Replacement Costs
EKSU states the following penalties:
- A fine of N500.00 per day applies to garments returned after the stipulated date
- Damaged or lost robes will be paid for in full; full replacement cost applies
Dressing Guidance for Matriculating Students
EKSU advises students to dress properly under the academic gown:
- Men should wear suits under the academic gowns
- Ladies should preferably wear their own robes over a reasonably long sleeve English dress
Seating Time and Ceremony Readiness
Faculty Officers are to make the matriculation digest available to students before the ceremony for reading. Students are also expected to inform their guests to be seated by 9:00 a.m. on the ceremony day.
All fully-robed matriculating students must also be on their seats and ready for the academic procession by 9:30 a.m.; late movement can disrupt the line-up.
What to Do After the Ceremony
Immediately after the ceremony, students are to:
- Sign the Matriculation Register at their respective Faculty Offices
- Submit their Matriculation Oath
