New academic rules at Federal Polytechnic, Ukana
The Academic Board has approved a set of rules to make student records clear and up to date. The Acting Director of Academic Planning shared the notice with staff and students so that everyone understands the same guide.
These rules focus on three main areas: payment of approved school fees, late registration, and full completion of student registration for the ongoing academic session.
School fees deadline – one month after resumption
All students must pay their approved school fees within one month from the date of resumption.
For example, if a student resumes on 1 March, that student is expected to pay fees and finish registration on or before 1 April. Departments have been asked to explain this clearly during class briefings and orientation, and to remind students so they do not miss the deadline.
Late registration fee of ₦10,000
Students who do not pay their fees and complete registration within the one-month window will pay a late registration fee of ₦10,000.
This late fee comes on top of the normal school fees. A student who delays payment and registration past the allowed time should plan for this extra cost. The aim is to encourage students to act early so records can be tidy and class lists ready on time.
No access to classes without full registration
Academic staff have been directed to check each student’s registration status before allowing entry into:
- Lectures
- Tests
- Practicals
This means that a student who has not completed registration should not sit in class, write a test, or attend a practical session. Staff are expected to follow this guide for every course.
Units where students must complete registration
To be counted as fully registered, a student must complete all needed steps with the following units:
- Department
- Registry
- Bursary
- ICT/MIS
- Library
A student who pays fees but does not visit one or more of these units is not yet fully registered. For example, a student who has paid at the Bursary but has not updated records at ICT/MIS may still be blocked from online services or class lists.
Only students who finish registration with all these units will be allowed to take part in teaching and learning activities for the session.
Ongoing updates from the school
The notice also states that more updates may come from the school management as the academic session moves forward. Students are advised to check official channels such as department noticeboards, school website, or trusted staff messages for fresh information.
By following these rules, students at Federal Polytechnic, Ukana can avoid extra fees, keep their records clear, and stay ready for lectures, tests, and practicals.
