The Governing Council of the University invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Bursar.
About the University
The Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi was established on 28 May 2023 following executive approval from the then President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The University has begun academic activities at its temporary site in Mubi North, Adamawa State.
Role and Duties
The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University, responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for:
- Managing all financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, cash management, and internal control.
- Leading financial planning, reporting, and audit coordination.
- Overseeing procurement, financial compliance, and risk management.
- Carrying out any other duties assigned by the Council or Vice-Chancellor.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
Academic:
- A first degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
- Fellowship or membership of a recognised professional accounting body (such as ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, ACA, or CPA).
Experience:
- At least 14 years of post-qualification experience, including a minimum of 4 years in a senior financial or administrative position (for example, as Deputy Bursar or its equivalent).
Age Limit:
- Candidates must not be above 59 years at the time of appointment.
Skills and Attributes:
- Proven integrity and transparency.
- Strong grasp of financial control systems.
- Proficiency in ICT, including experience with ERP or accounting software.
- Sound leadership and communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
- A clean service record.
- Evidence of creativity in financial management and capacity to lead reforms.
Terms of Appointment and Remuneration
- The appointment is for an initial term of five years, renewable for one additional year upon satisfactory performance.
- Salary and conditions of service are those approved for the post of Bursar in Nigerian universities or as determined by the University Council.
- The successful candidate will be placed on a grade level appropriate to their qualifications and experience.
