The management of the Federal University Dutse (FUD) has shared a warning about a fake Facebook page said to be created in the name of the Vice-Chancellor-designate of the university, Professor Ahmad Muhammed Gumel.
FUD said management became aware of the account after reports reached the university. The school said the page was opened by fraudsters, with the aim of tricking and defrauding people.
The university said the Facebook page is not owned by Professor Ahmad Muhammed Gumel and it is not run by him. It should be ignored fully.
FUD asked members of the public to be careful, avoid dealing with the account, and dont share personal details or financial information with anyone claiming to represent the Vice-Chancellor-designate through unofficial social media pages.
The university also said it wants to keep the public safe from fraud, and it urged everyone to rely only on verified and official communication channels of the Federal University Dutse for correct information.
