FUKASHERE receives NUC approval

The Federal University Kashere (FUKASHERE) in Gombe State has received approval from the National Universities Commission to begin three new full-time programmes.

The approval came after a resource visit carried out by panels sent to check staff strength, teaching spaces and other learning needs. Within the first stage of the review, Federal University Kashere (FUKASHERE) met the basic requirements set by the regulator, which cleared the way for the programmes to start in the 2025 to 2026 session.

New programmes approved

The letter sent by the Commission on 8 December 2025 confirmed that three courses are cleared to begin:

  1. B.D.S. Dental Surgery
  2. B.N.Sc. Nursing Science
  3. B.O.T. Occupational Therapy

The Commission stated that the approval is for full-time study only. Any plan for part-time study will need fresh approval. It also noted that each programme must keep the titles as approved. A change in name will need written consent from the Commission.

What the approval means for the university

The clearance gives the university room to grow its health sciences area. It also brings more study options for students within the north-east region. The Commission asked the university to keep raising its staff strength, learning tools and teaching spaces so the courses can progress with time.
