FULAFIA Appoints New Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida

The Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) Governing Council has announced the appointment of Professor Mohammed Isa Kida as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University. Professor Kida, who currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Management Science, received his official appointment letter from the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mrs. Lola Fibisola Akande.
According to the letter, Professor Kida’s tenure will run for a single term of five years, beginning on 11 February 2026. The appointment, dated 29 October 2025, reflects the Council’s confidence in his leadership and academic experience.
FULAFIA Leadership Transition
The letter signed by the Governing Council Chair noted that Professor Kida is expected to bring his professional expertise and administrative background to strengthen the University’s academic and management structure.
Professor Kida, an accomplished accountant and respected academic, has served the University in various capacities before his elevation to the office of Vice-Chancellor. His appointment comes as Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, completes his tenure in February 2026.
The Governing Council expressed appreciation to Professor Rahman for his service and commitment during his term and expressed optimism that the new leadership would continue to advance the University’s academic goals and administrative stability.
