Federal University Lokoja reminds students that second semester exams begin 1 September 2025. The school has listed offences considered misconduct and their penalties, ranging from rustication to expulsion. All candidates are urged to read carefully and follow the rules.
Federal University Lokoja has dropped a big reminder. The second semester exams are set to begin on Monday, 1 September 2025. With that comes a stern warning: play by the rules or face the music. Nobody wants their years of study cut short by a careless mistake, yet every session someone tries it.
Offences and their penalties
The school has laid it all out, no sugar-coating. If you break the rules, the punishment is already waiting. Some are heavy, others lighter, but none are pleasant. Here’s the breakdown:
- Disrespecting or insulting an invigilator – rustication for 2 semesters
- Entering with textbooks, notes, or cheat papers – expulsion
- Asking or giving oral assistance inside the hall – rustication for 2 semesters
- Impersonation, writing for another candidate – expulsion
- Caught with answer booklet that already has writing – expulsion
- Caught with answer booklet blank but unauthorised – rustication for 2 semesters
- Threatening or assaulting an exam officer – expulsion
- Colluding with staff or other students to aid misconduct – expulsion
- Skipping exams without clearance or failing attendance requirement – marked as failed
- Copying or swapping answer sheets – expulsion
- Lecturer providing answers during exam – expulsion (lecturer also faces staff disciplinary action)
- Removing answer scripts illegally – disqualified from the exam and rustication for 2 semesters
- Bringing in bags, manuals, atlases, cheat notes, or lab specimens – expulsion
- Checking cheat notes outside during the exam – expulsion
- Physical assault on invigilators inside or outside hall – expulsion
- Use of phones, calculators, smart devices, Bluetooth gadgets – expulsion
- Destroying evidence of malpractice – expulsion
Staff accountability too
This warning is not just for students. Any staff member caught helping candidates cheat, extorting money, or demanding favours in exchange for grades will face the Staff Disciplinary Committee. The rules cut both ways.
Other reminders for smooth exams
- Computer-Based Exams (CBE) must be taken with calmness and order, ICT Centre rules apply.
- Every student must sign in at the start and sign out at submission.
- Before stepping inside, you must present:
- Printed exam card with photo
- University ID card
- Evidence of payment of approved fees
Final word
Exams can be tough, but cheating is a short road to nowhere. Don’t gamble with your future. Pack the right documents, leave the wrong items behind, and just focus on your papers. As they say, na who play fair go sleep well at night.
