The Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI) will introduce Pharmacy and Medical Laboratory programmes in the 2025-2026 academic year.

This addition provides more options for students interested in healthcare education.

Godfrey Okoye University Expands Academic Programmes

The Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, has announced several updates.

One major change is that the Computer Science department will now become the Faculty of Computing.

All lessons will use smart boards and computers to enhance learning.

Courses Offered in the New Faculty of Computing

The new Faculty of Computing will include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity.

There will also be courses in other areas related to computing.

These additions aim to provide students with up-to-date knowledge that meets industry needs.

Progress at GOUNI College of Medicine

The College of Medicine at GOUNI is also making progress.

Pioneer students are preparing for their 2nd MB examinations, set to take place in March 2025.

This is an important step in their journey toward graduation.

The College of Medicine is one of the first to receive approval for both 1st and 2nd MB exams in a short period since its founding.

Students will soon start their practical training at the Teaching Hospital in Enugu, which includes a newly set up Accident and Emergency Department.

Ambitions for the “Cross Over Year”

The 2024-2025 academic session is called the “Cross Over Year”.

The university aims to admit 1,000 new students and 350 postgraduate students.

The goal is to focus on programmes that perform well and end those that do not.

This approach aims to maintain quality education across the board.

Partnership with Lux Mundi University

Godfrey Okoye University also has a mentoring relationship with Lux Mundi University, Umuahia.

The Vice-Chancellor spoke about the trust in GOUNI’s capabilities.

Lux Mundi University will take part in GOUNI’s exchange and partnership programmes with international universities.

Professor Gabriel Okenwa, the proprietor of Lux Mundi University, shared his gratitude for this mentorship and its role in helping their institution grow.

The partnership was made formal with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
