LASU Governing Council Denies Agreement With LASU-ASUU
LASU Governing Council denies involvement n the implementation of the Miscellaneous Acts [2012]. The Acts that academic members of staff should retire from service at the age of 70 years.
The Lagos State University Governing Council has refuted claims of its involvement in the implementation of the Miscellaneous Acts [2012] which stipulates that academic members of staff in the institution on professorial cadre should retire from service at the age of 70 years.
In a statement signed by the public relations officer of the institution, Kayode Sutton, it said “the council, in clear terms, wishes to place on records that it was not a signatory to any agreement between ASUU-LASU and the government.
“In addition, the agreement referred to did not mandate the council to carry out any implementation. It is therefore noteworthy that what was expressed by the leadership of ASUU-LASU at the meeting of LASU Management, Appointments and Promotions (Academics) Committee and ASUU-LASU executives on the industrial action held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, was simply an opinion of the Academic Staff Union.
