IAUE Business School Ready to Commence Academic Activities

The newly established Institute for Professional Studies and International Business School at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education is ready to commence full academic activities.

Speaking at a quarterly interactive session at the auditorium to inform the staff about the state of affairs in the university, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele , also announced that the university has released the results of pioneer graduate students of the Master’s and Postgraduate diploma programmes.

He lauded the management and staff of the graduate school, and other members of staff who worked hard to ensure that the promise by management to graduate students who are serious with their studies within one year duration was kept.

The V-C also informed the gathering that initiatives by his administration to rev up internally generated revenue in the institution have started yielding positive returns, starting with the fish farm which he said generates about two million naira monthly.

He complained that poor electricity supply to the three campuses of the university is affecting service delivery in the school, regretting that most of what the institution generates internally is channelled to power generation.

He however, assured that management was looking at alternative sources of power supply in the school, while pointing out that there was need to replace the power generators in the three campuses because they could no longer cope with the power supply need in the institution.

He said the provision of more infrastructures and improvement on the security architecture in the three campuses are areas that would be given more attention, and disclosed that a befitting ten classroom block has been put in place for the part time programme at the St. John campus.

The Vice-Chancellor appealed to staff to be patient with management as it is committed to putting in place programmes and policies that would improve the fortunes of school.

He announced the appointment of DR. Levi Kalagbor as Head of the St. John campus and cautioned heads of units not to deny any staff that is qualified for promotion due to personal grudges and thanked SSANU, ASUU and NASU for their cooperation, while cautioning that members of staff that engage in derogatory acts would be punished accordingly.

Meanwhile the capital funds campaign programme of the University Advancement Centre has been flagged-off by the Vice-Chancellor.

In his remarks at the event, the Director of the centre, Professor Lysias Gilbert noted that the campaign is a globally recognized means through which universities raise money for infrastructural development.

He said that the first phase of the campaign was to solve the power supply challenge in the school and appealed to every member of staff to be committed it.
