JAMB Cut-Off Marks for Admission into Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics & Other Tertiary Institutions
Ok so — JAMB results are out. Maybe you’ve seen yours, maybe you’re still refreshing that page like it owes you money. Either way, you’re probably wondering about cut-off marks for 2025, yeah?
Well... here’s the truth: they haven’t been released. Not yet. No updates from JAMB, no leak, no nothing. Everyone’s still waiting. Annoying, I know.
BUT if you’re trying to figure out where you might stand, you can still look at the 2024 ones (they’re down there somewhere). Not exactly 2025, but kinda gives you a rough idea. Like… You can compare and guess. Sorta.
When the actual 2025 ones show up (and they will, eventually), we’ll update this page. No need to stress or go looking everywhere. Just check back when you remember. Or like, save the link? Your call.
Anyway yeah. That’s the deal for now.
One number. That’s what it all seems to come down to. Not your name. Not the sleepless nights or that lucky biro. Just a figure. Fixed, debated, announced at a meeting in Abuja where decisions are made in a room most students will never see. Yet what happens there ripples across the country, into classrooms, lecture theatres, and family chats over dinner.
So what’s the latest? The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), chaired by Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has released the official cut-off marks for the 2024 admission cycle.
It’s not uniform. It never is. But there’s a base. And what each school does with it? That’s where it gets interesting.

What Is the JAMB Cut-Off Mark for 2024?
JAMB has declared the following as the minimum thresholds for admission:
- 140 for universities
- 100 for polytechnics
- 100 for colleges of education
But before you exhale or panic, here’s the twist: this is the floor, not the ceiling. Schools can set theirs higher. In fact, they often do. Because autonomy matters, and no one wants to lower their gates too far.
As Oloyede clarified during the 2024 policy meeting, each institution is free to set its own limit—so long as it stays above the national baseline.
So don’t assume. Check what your chosen school actually accepts.

FAQs as regards JAMB Cut-Off Marks
What’s JAMB Cut-Off Mark for 2024 Admission?
The Minister of Education presided over the session. University minimum: 140. Polytechnics and colleges: 100. But as always, that’s the floor—not the finish line.
Can institutions set marks higher than the agreed cut-off?
Yes. And many do. Some schools—especially federal universities—often raise their bar well above the JAMB benchmark. That’s why it’s critical to look at the actual figures released by each institution.
Can institutions set marks lower than the agreed cut-off?
No. Not legally. No university can admit anyone scoring below 140. No polytechnic or college of education can go under 100. If they try? JAMB won’t approve it.
What Should You Do with This Information?
One, don’t assume your 170 is enough just because the national benchmark is 140. Two, look up your school. Three, if your score’s lower than your school’s target, consider alternatives. You could change your course or institution before it’s too late.
Cut-off marks are not just numbers. They’re gates. Find one that opens for you—and walk through it while you still can.
