JAMB Direct Entry Eligibility
To be eligible for Direct Entry, you must meet specific academic qualifications. These include:
- A minimum of O’level credit pass in five (5) SSSC subjects at not more than two sittings with at least two prescribed subjects for each programme (course of study) at the Principal or Advanced level.
- Two passes [in prescribed subjects for each (programme) course of study] at the A’Level Examination awarded by IJMB, Cambridge, JUPEB or Institute of Baccalaureate with three other credit passes in the SSCE.
- Credit passes in two major subjects in the NCE with three other credit passes in SSSC, NTC/NBC (mainly for Education /Technical programmes)
- Minimum of credit grade in University/National Diploma or National Innovation Diploma with the appropriate O’level requirements. All submitted Advanced Level Qualifications are to be verified by a special committee, and any fake result shall attract prosecution.
Accepted Qualifications for Registration
Note that only 13 qualifications/certificates will be accepted for the registration process. These include:

- Higher National Diploma
- Ordinary National Diploma / National Diploma
- Nigeria Certificate in Education
- Interim Joint Matriculation Board A’ Level
- Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board A’ Level
- NABTEB Advanced National Business Certificate
- NABTEB Advanced National Technical Certificate
- NABTEB GCE-A’ Level (2015 – 2021)
- Higher Islamic Studies Certificate by NBAIS
- International Baccalaureate
- National Registered Nurse / National Registered Midwife
DE CANDIDATES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THEIR JAMB REGISTRATION NUMBERS WITH WHICH THEY GAINED ADMISSION TO NCE/NID/DIPLOMA AND PREVIOUS DEGREE PROGRAMMES.
REGISTRATION FOR DE CANDIDATES SHALL NOT BE EXTENDED BEYOND THE PERIOD ALLOTTED TO BOTH UTME/DE
CAVEAT: CANDIDATES SHOULD NOT APPLY FOR UTME AND DE AT THE SAME TIME. IF ANY CANDIDATE APPLIES THROUGH UTME AND LATER OBTAIN DE QUALIFICATION, THE UTME CAN BE UPGRADED TO DE AT NO COST. Indeed it is a sanctionable infraction to obtain two application documents in the same year. Double/multiple registrations attract outright cancellation and prosecution.

Group Registration: Not allowed.
Registration Requirements:
- Unique Mobile Phone Number: Required for registration; only usable by one candidate.
- National Identification Number (NIN) Submission: Text “NIN” followed by 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019.
- Profile Code: 10-character code received on the same phone number.
- Phone Number Linking: Used for all communication related to 2024 and future applications.
- Profile Code and e-PIN: Present these at any JAMB accredited CBT Centre for registration.
- Biometric and Photograph Capture: Mandatory for completing the application.

Vital Direct Entry (DE) Registration and Admission Rules
DE Candidates with Completed Results:
- Must upload their A’level qualifications and O’level results at registration.
- Upload the DE Registration Template.
Verification of Uploaded Results:
- DE candidates’ results must be uploaded and verified on the JAMB platform (CAPS MAIL) for admission processing.
DE Candidates Awaiting Results:
- Those awaiting A’level results (UMS/UPER/NABТЕВ) must upload their Admission Letter and Registration Template at registration.
Cambridge Certificate Verification:
- For pre-2018 Cambridge certificates, visit Cambridge for verification.
- Verification may take up to 28 days; results will be forwarded to the Board and reflected in the candidate’s e-Facility profile.
Statement of Results Validity:
- Accepted for registration only within 3 years from the date of award.
UTME to DE Upgrade:
- Available for candidates whose DE results are pending at UTME registration.
- Candidates must have indicated awaiting A’level results at registration.
- Relevant details must be provided in the uploaded registration template.
Checking A’level Admission Status:
- Candidates should regularly check their e-facility profile.
- Status of A’level result verification will be indicated as “CLEARED” or “NOT CLEARED”.
- Reasons for non-clearance, such as discrepancies in name, grade, subject etc., will be explicitly stated.
2024 JAMB DE Form Application for Foreign Countries
Registration Fee:
- $30 in the local currency of each of the nine foreign countries.
Registration Process:
- Download application documents from JAMB’s website.
- Complete and submit the documents with the fee at designated centres in the respective country, as indicated on the website.
- Registration is conducted in Abidjan, Accra, Addis Ababa, Beau, Cotonou, Jeddah, Johannesburg, London, or Berlin.

Aptitude Test for DE Candidates
- Introduction of an Aptitude Test for DE candidates starting from the 2024 Admission Year.
