Irregular Admission: JAMB, NUC Threaten to Sanction Universities
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and the three regulatory agencies for tertiary education in the country – the National Universities Commission, National Board for Technical Education, and the National Commission for Colleges of Education – have stated that they will sanction institutions that sell application forms for the 2022/2023 admissions.

According to our source, the measure was intended to reduce the high rate of irregular admissions done by universities.
The 2022/2023 admissions process began in August 2022, with JAMB setting the deadline for December 31, 2022.
Even though some institutions have not yet begun the admissions process, JAMB has stated that it will penalise institutions that sell application forms to individuals.
The board mandated that all applications be processed using the Central Admissions Processing System.
In a document headed “Serialisation of rules for the 2022 admissions procedure,”, the board highlighted that it was collaborating with the three tertiary institution regulatory authorities.
“All applications for admission to First Degree, National Diploma, National Innovation Diploma, and Nigeria Certificate in Education programmes, including Full-Time, Distance Learning, Part-Time, Outreach, Sandwich, etc., must be processed only by JAMB.”
