Kogi State Polytechnic Gets Accreditation for New Programmes
Kogi State Polytechnic secures full accreditation for 18 programmes and approval for 8 new ones. The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) confirmed this milestone after rigorous evaluation. Keep reading for a detailed breakdown of programmes and the institution's achievements.
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted Kogi State Polytechnic full institutional accreditation and approved 18 programmes for the 2024/2025 session.
The Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, shared the news during the institution’s 32nd Matriculation Ceremony on 18 January 2025.
NBTE also approved the launch of eight new programmes following a Resource Inspection Visitation.

Full Accreditation for 18 Programmes
The polytechnic achieved 100 per cent accreditation success during the exercise conducted from 18 to 20 December 2024.

- ND Mechatronics Engineering Technology
- ND Computer Engineering Technology
- HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (Power and Machine Option)
- HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (Electronic and Telecommunication Option)
- ND Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology
- ND Accountancy
- HND Accountancy
- ND Business Administration and Management
- HND Business Administration and Management
- ND Public Administration
- HND Public Administration
- HND Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology Option)
- HND Urban and Regional Planning
- ND Library and Information Science

- ND Horticultural Technology
- ND Animal Health and Production Technology

Approval for 8 New Programmes
NBTE also approved the introduction of the following programmes:
- HND Civil Engineering Technology
- HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option)
- HND Building Technology
- HND Architectural Technology
- HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics
- ND Printing Technology
- ND Fashion Design and Clothing Technology
- ND Mass Communication
Commitment to Academic Standards
The Rector highlighted that none of the polytechnic’s programmes holds a denied or interim accreditation status, reflecting the institution’s dedication to quality education.
Out of 57 total programmes, 19 were introduced under the current administration, making up 33.3 per cent of all offerings.
Recognition of Support
Professor Usman praised the collective effort of staff, including cleaners, drivers, and security personnel, for their contributions to the success of the accreditation process.
Special appreciation was extended to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continuous support and creating an environment conducive to learning.
The Rector reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the polytechnic into a model institution admired nationwide.
