KWASU Clarifies Status of Law Programme Accreditation

The Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Kwara State, has addressed recent reports circulating on social media regarding its Law programmes.

The reports claim that the Council of Legal Education (CLE) has suspended admissions into the Law programme at KWASU, alleging that the university admitted and graduated students without obtaining the required accreditation.

These posts also urge prospective students to change their institution of choice.

KWASU Law Programmes: Accreditation Status

KWASU Management wants to assure the public that the university’s two undergraduate Law programmes—Common Law and Common and Islamic Law—are fully accredited.

These programmes are accredited by both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education (CLE).

KWASU’s Law programmes began with NUC approval in the 2018/2019 academic year.

The university received full accreditation for both programmes from the NUC in 2021.

That same year, accreditation was also secured from the Council of Legal Education.

Since obtaining accreditation from the CLE in 2021, KWASU has strictly adhered to an admission quota of fifty students per session.

This has been followed in the 2021/2022, 2022/2023, 2023/2024, and the current 2024/2025 sessions.

Kwara State University maintains a strong commitment to the standards set by the Council of Legal Education.

The university continues to uphold these standards in its Law programmes.

KWASU holds the Council of Legal Education in high regard, particularly regarding maintaining quality in legal education.

The public is assured that KWASU’s Law programmes remain fully accredited by both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education (CLE).
