LASU Launches New E-Learning Portal for GNS Courses

Lagos State University (LASU) is launching a new e-learning portal for GNS courses to enhance the learning experience and address space challenges. The platform supports GNS 104, GNS 112, GNS 212, and GNS 312. Students can access weekly lessons, video lessons, and quizzes. Lagos State University (LASU) e-Learning Portal for GNS Courses

The Lagos State University (LASU) GNS courses are now accessible through a re-engineered e-learning portal. This new platform aims to enhance the learning experience and address the challenge of accommodating the large number of students during the GNS teaching belt. The Centre for General Nigerian Studies (CGNS), in collaboration with the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), has developed this platform to support hybrid learning in line with the CCMAS and BMAS curricula.

Launch of the e-Learning Platform

The e-learning platform was officially launched on Monday, 25th June 2024. Currently, it hosts courses such as GNS 104, GNS 112, GNS 212, and GNS 312.

Guidelines for Accessing the e-Learning Platform

  1. Access the Portal:
  2. Login Page:
    • The login page will be displayed. If not, click the login link at the top right corner of the site.
  3. Login Credentials:
    • Enter your Matriculation Number in the Username textbox.
    • Enter your Surname in CAPITAL letters in the Password textbox.
  4. Dashboard:
    • After logging in, view the list of enrolled courses (e.g., GNS 112).
  5. Access Course Content:
    • Click on the desired course (e.g., GNS 112) to access the course content.
  6. Weekly Activities:
    • Participate in the following weekly activities:
      • Weekly Lesson (Text)
      • Weekly Video Lesson
      • Weekly Quiz

Important Notes

  1. Weekly Lesson Access:
    • Lesson notes for a particular week become accessible at 12:00 midnight on the first day of that week.
  2. Sequential Access:
    • Lesson notes for subsequent weeks are only accessible after reviewing the notes from the preceding week.

Steps to Access Weekly Content

  1. Weekly Lessons:
    • Select the course from the dashboard.
    • Choose the appropriate week.
    • Click on the Weekly Lesson note.
  2. Weekly Video Lessons:
    • Select the course from the dashboard.
    • Choose the appropriate week.
    • Click on the Weekly Video Lesson note to view the video.
  3. Weekly Quizzes:
    • Select the course from the dashboard.
    • Choose the appropriate week.
    • Click on the Weekly Quiz.
    • Click “Attempt Quiz Now” to start the quiz, if available.

Continuous Assessment (CA)

Participation in the platform and attempts on the weekly quizzes contribute to Continuous Assessment (CA) for each student.

Compendium Reference

Students are expected to refer to their Compendium as stated on the portal for additional resources.
