Lagos State University (LASU) NUC Resource Assessment

The Lagos State University (LASU) has taken a significant step forward in its expansion efforts, with the National Universities Commission (NUC) visiting the institution on Thursday, 13th April 2023, to conduct a resource assessment of eight new academic programmes. Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, LASU aims to admit the first students into these programs soon.

The new programmes include B.Sc. Science Laboratory Science at the Ojo Main Campus; BMLS Medical Laboratory Science, B.Sc. Radiography and Radiation Science, and Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) Programmes at the College of Medicine, Ikeja, Lagos; and B.Sc Industrial Engineering, B.Sc Civil Engineering, B.Sc Industrial Design, and B.Sc Survey and Geo-Informatics at the Epe Campus of the University.

During the NUC teams’ reception at the Senate Chamber, Vice Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello expressed optimism that the assessors would be satisfied with the level of preparedness and facilities in place for the successful launch of the new programmes. She also assured them of the university’s full support in carrying out their duties.

In response, Team Lead for Industrial Engineering, Prof. Y.A Adediran, thanked the Vice Chancellor for the warm reception and clarified that the exercise is not a witch-hunt, but rather an effort to verify that the resources submitted to the NUC align with the actual resources in place.

The Vice Chancellor handed the teams over to the respective Deans responsible for the new programmes before bidding them farewell as they proceeded to the various campuses of the university. The Provost, College of Medicine, Prof. Biodun Adewuya, and several other Deans, university management, and officials were present at the meeting.
