LASU Responds to Viral Campus Prank Video
Lagos State University (LASU) has reacted to a video circulating online under the title Bandits Prank on Lasuites. The clip, posted by Datreez Entertainment TV on Friday, 5 December 2025, shows people dressed in a way that caused fear as they moved into the campus with objects that looked like gear. Many students were alarmed, leading to concern across the community. The University Management has now shared a clear statement to guide students and the public.
LASU’s Position on the Viral Video
The University noted that it never gave any form of clearance for the recording or posting of the video. Datreez Entertainment TV entered the campus without approval, which made the action unauthorised. The management added that such content can upset students and disrupt calm on campus.
Lagos State University (LASU) Condemns Fear-Generating Content
Management stressed that it does not support content that hints at banditry, terrorism, or any act that may frighten students or staff. The prank arrived at a time when safety matters are taken very seriously in Nigeria. The University urged content creators to act with care and to respect campus rules at all times.
Safety Measures and Student Guidance
The University restated its commitment to a safe and peaceful learning space. Staff and students have been asked to stay alert and contact the LASU Security Unit if they see any strange activity. Simple steps, such as reporting odd behaviour or unknown visitors, can help protect the campus.
