Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) is looking to fill two senior roles: College Secretary and Financial Controller. These jobs come with weighty responsibilities, so only experienced professionals should apply.

Job: College Secretary
Who Should Apply?
To stand a chance, you need:
- A first degree from a recognised university (minimum of Second-Class Lower).
- A master’s degree in a related field. This is compulsory.
- At least 15 years’ work experience, including 3 years as Deputy Registrar in a recognised tertiary school.
- NYSC discharge or valid exemption certificate.
- Five O’Level credits, including English and Maths.
- Membership of ANUPA. Extra marks for those who also belong to groups like ICSAN, NIM or CIPM.
- Hands-on understanding of how a medical college works.
- Strong computer skills.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the college’s administrative functions.
- Make sure operations align with university rules and government laws.
- Act as Secretary to key bodies, including the Court of Governors and Academic Board.
- Handle records, formal letters, and reports.
- Keep lines of communication open between faculties, the provost, and others outside the college.
Job: Financial Controller
What You’ll Need
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a similar course (Second-Class Lower minimum).
- A professional certificate is a must (ICAN, ACA, ACMA or ANAN).
- Master’s degree in a relevant area.
- NYSC discharge or exemption letter.
- Five O’Level credits including English and Maths.
- At least 12 years of work experience, with 5 in senior finance roles.
- Three years must have been spent as a deputy bursar or similar post in a university.
- You must understand budget planning, audits, financial reporting and government rules.
- Must know how to use accounting software and ERP tools.
Main Duties
- Prepare and manage yearly budgets.
- Control spending and oversee the college’s income and expenses.
- Supervise audits and keep the college compliant with rules.
- Suggest money-saving ideas where possible.
- Manage all finance units and give financial advice to the Provost and Council.
Term and Age Cap
- Initial term lasts two years, with a chance to renew for another two if your performance is up to scratch.
- You must be 60 or younger as of 1 October 2025. A day older? You’re out.
