Programme Overview
JLCI offers a structured path to learning Japanese, tailored to accommodate learners of various levels, from beginners to those looking to perfect their skills.
Admission Requirements
To enroll in the Japanese Language and Culture Institute, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Course 1 (0 to 80 hours): Open to anyone above 15 years with no prior experience in Japanese. Candidates must score 70% or more in the online placement test.
- Course 2 (80 to 160 hours): Suitable for graduates of Course 1 or those who have previously studied Japanese.
Additionally, all applicants must:
- Be able to cover the tuition and learning materials by the start of the class.
- Participate in all classes and exams conducted online via ZOOM.
- Show strong motivation and commitment to continue studying the Japanese language.
Mode of Study
The courses are designed for part-time study, allowing flexibility for students.
Duration and Class Size
- Duration: The initial programme lasts 20 weeks online, with the possibility to extend up to 80 weeks to achieve the N4 level in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).
- Class Size:
- Course 1: 10 to 100 students
- Course 2: 1 to 20 students
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, candidates should be able to reach the N5 level of the JLPT within the first year and aim for the N4 level by the end of two years and four terms.
