McPherson University Gets Higher Nursing Quota, Eyes 2,000 New Students

McPherson University, Ogun State, has received the green light to admit more students into its Nursing programme. The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has officially raised the school’s admission quota for Nursing from 100 to 200 students.

This comes after the university applied and passed a resource assessment earlier this year.

Nursing Quota Doubled

Professor Francis Igbasan, the Vice-Chancellor, broke the news during a morning devotion with staff. While the university had requested 250 slots, the 200 granted is still a big boost.

According to him, this update puts McPherson ahead of many private schools offering Nursing. He credited the increase to the university’s growing capacity and steady push to maintain strong academic standards.

General Admission Opens Soon

Prof. Igbasan also said that admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session will open next week. The school is preparing to take in up to 2,000 students across all departments. He asked staff to get ready to support the process.

Staff and Student Recruitment Drive

As part of efforts to meet this target, the VC encouraged staff to get involved in student recruitment. He said the school will offer a reward for each student referred by staff, students or external partners.

This move is aimed at widening the school’s reach while rewarding those who bring in new applicants.

Final Word From the VC

Prof. Igbasan also reminded staff to keep growing, both personally and professionally. He stressed that continuous learning helps everyone do better, which, in turn, helps the university grow.

Admissions open soon. If you’re planning to apply for Nursing at McPherson, this might be your best shot yet.
