The management of the Niger Delta University (NDU) Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Institute of BioDiversity Climate Change and WaterSheds (IBCW) is now selling application forms for admission into its postgraduate programmes for the 2020/2021 academic session.

Latest Update: The IBCW application deadline has been extended to February 29, 2021.

NDU IBCW Admission Requirements

Post Graduate Diploma (PGD)

Admission into the Post-Graduate Diploma Programme of the Institute requires that:

  1. All candidates must have five or four credit passes including Mathematics, two other relevant science/social science subjects and pass in English in case of science-based applicants and pass in Mathematics in case of social science-based applicants, obtained at not more than two sittings in  SSCE/GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent.
  2. Candidates with Bachelor’s Degree from an approved University, who have obtained a minimum of Pass or Third class in the relevant science or social science and law disciplines.
  3. Holders of HND in relevant programmes from approved institutions with a minimum of Lower Credit in the relevant disciplines. Relevant disciplines include but not restricted to Botany/Plant Science, Microbiology, Agriculture, Forestry, Crop Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Zoology, Genetics, Biotechnology or related social science fields.

*Work experience and possession of relevant professional training and membership certificates attract waiver of admission requirements.

Master’s Degree (M.Sc.)

Admission into the Master’s Degree Programmes requires that:

  1. All candidates must have five credit passes including English, Mathematics and two other relevant science or social science subjects obtained at not more than two sittings in SSCE/GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent.
  2. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree from an approved University, who have obtained a minimum of Second Class Lower with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.40 and above shall be eligible. Such related field includes Agriculture, Forestry, Crop Science, Genetics, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Environmental Science and other related social science areas.
  3. Holders of HND in relevant programmes from approved institutions with a minimum of Lower Credit may be considered for admission. Relevant disciplines include but not restricted to Botany/Plant Science, Microbiology, Agriculture, Forestry, Crop Science, Biochemistry, Zoology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Environmental Science or related fields.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.)

Admission into the PhD Degree programme requires:

  1. A minimum of five (5) credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics obtained at not more than two sittings in SSCE/GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent.
  2. A Master’s Degree in any of the related fields from approved Universities with Cumulative Grade Point of 3.00 and above or an overall average score average of at least 60%.
  3. Such related field includes Botany/Plant Science, Microbiology, Agriculture, Forestry, Crop Science, Biochemistry, Zoology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Biological Science, Environmental Science and other related social science areas.

Additional Admission Requirements

  1. Academic transcript of past qualification (BSc, PGD, MSc, etc.) with forwarding letter signed by authorized officer of the institution and sent by a confidential cover to the Director, Institute of Biodiversity, Climate Change and Watersheds, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Candidates are advised to write to the school where they graduated for transcript immediately, they purchase and submit the form to avoid late submission of transcripts.
  2. Two referees, one of which must be an academic Referee (Lecturer who taught candidate in the former school, Project/ Thesis Supervisor, Head of Department, Dean of Faculty. Candidates are required to fill in their referees’ email contacts in the course of the application and inform such referees as they would be contacted via email and required to provide information online.
  3. NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exemption/Exclusion Letter. (Candidates awaiting NYSC Discharge certificate can apply, provided the certificate would be ready at the time of registration).

How to Apply for NDU IBCW Admission Form

Purchase Application Form at www.ndu.edu.ng for the sum of Thirty Thousand Naira (N30,000.00) only. Go to ibcw.ndu.edu.ng and click on admissions. Then click on the application. Enter mobile number and payment receipt number. Fill the form and upload the necessary documents. Print out Application Form and submit with accompanying documents to the Director, Institute of Biodiversity, Climate Change and Watersheds, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE N30,000.00 APPLICATION FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
