NECO 2025 SSCE External Exam: CBT and Paper Mode

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External will be conducted in a dual format. Candidates will have the option of taking the exam through a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and a Pen and Paper mode.
This change is part of NECO’s effort to improve accessibility and convenience for candidates. With the introduction of more neighbourhood centres, candidates can now register and sit for the exam in additional locations nationwide.
How to Register and Participate in the NECO Mock Exam
To familiarise candidates with the new process, NECO has organised a mock examination. Candidates are encouraged to participate by following the steps below:
Step 1: Access the Registration Portal
Visit the official NECO mock registration portal at practice-exam-reg.neco.gov.ng.
Step 2: Complete the Registration Form
Fill in all the required details carefully to complete your registration. Ensure that your information is accurate before submission.
Step 3: Check Your Email for Further Instructions
After submitting your details, check your email inbox for instructions sent to the address you used during registration. These details will include your registration number and exam guidelines.
Step 4: Log in to the Exam Portal
Go to the exam portal at practice-exam.neco.gov.ng.
Enter your registration number to access the exam environment.
Step 5: Begin the Mock Exam
Follow the on-screen instructions to start your mock examination. This mock test is designed to help candidates become familiar with NECO’s CBT interface and exam format.
