Newgate College Community Health Re-Accreditation

The Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria is conducting a two-day re-accreditation exercise at the Newgate College of Health Technology in Minna, Niger State. The exercise involves inspecting facilities, meeting with management and staff, and visiting healthcare institutions where students are posted for their SIWES experience.

Newgate College of Health Technology, located in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria, recently welcomed the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria to conduct a two-day re-accreditation exercise for the institution’s Community Health department.

Led by Alhaji Salisu Abubakar, the accreditation team, comprising Alhaji Saleh Katanga, Hajia Rakiya Muktar, and Mrs. Binta Abdullahi, began their visit with a meeting with the College’s management. In attendance were the Provost, Mrs. Queendaline Opara Iwuala; Deputy Provost, Dr. John Akiboh; Registrar, Mallam Abdul-Hakeem Hussaini Baba; Human Resource Manager, Mrs. Shekwolo Patience; and other management staff.

The team proceeded to meet Hajiya Maryam Hassan Abubakar, the Head of the Community Health Department, before embarking on the actual inspection for the re-accreditation exercise. The inspection began with the Community Health skills and demonstration laboratory, followed by a visit to the Demonstration Clinic, where the team inspected various units within the facility.

The Library and Information & Communication Technology Centre were also inspected by the accreditation team to conclude the first day of the exercise. On the second day, the team is expected to visit various healthcare institutions within Minna where students of the department are posted for their Student Industrial Work Experience Schemes (SIWES). The exercise will conclude with a human resource verification of the department and an exit briefing by the re-accreditation team.
