- Study at a federal or state owned university in Nigeria
- Have at least five O’Level credits in one sitting (WASC, SSCE, or NECO), including Mathematics and English
- Score a minimum of 200 in the JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
- Be between 18 and 25 years old at the time of application
- Not be receiving any other scholarship, bursary, or grant from any organisation
- Not be a spouse, child, ward, or direct relative of an NLNG staff member

Test, screening, and award process
