The Nigeria GovTech Public Service Award has honoured Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), as the Best State University in Innovative Use of Technology for 2024.
This prestigious recognition follows a nationwide nomination and voting process that engaged media platforms across the country.
The award highlights NSUK’s achievements in advancing GovTech initiatives within the academic sector.
VC Clinches Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award
In addition to the university’s win, NSUK’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, was recognised with the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award.
This award acknowledges her leadership in driving digital governance and technology reforms that align with the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda.
Award Presentation Ceremony at NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja
The award ceremony, organised by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, took place on Friday, 11th October 2024, at the renowned NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja.
In her acceptance speech, Professor Sa’adatu expressed gratitude to the organisers and attributed the award to the university’s strides in digital governance.
Key Achievements Under the Vice-Chancellor’s Leadership
Since taking office in April 2024, Professor Sa’adatu has spearheaded a Digital Revolution at NSUK.
This initiative focuses on integrating the latest technology into teaching, research, and administration.
Some notable achievements include:
- Enhancing the student portal for better service delivery
- Reviewing the student payment portal to minimise financial leakages
- Automating the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) reconciliation process
These advancements have contributed to improved financial transparency and efficiency within the university.
Upgraded Online Services and Connectivity
Under her leadership, NSUK upgraded the online Post-UTME screening and admission process.
The internet bandwidth was increased from 156mbps to 1Gbps, and Computer-Based Tests (CBT) were introduced across multiple platforms.
These improvements have streamlined administrative processes and enhanced the learning experience for students.
Strengthening Academic Integrity and Transparency
The reforms have not only bolstered NSUK’s revenue base but have also ensured the integrity of academic records.
The university’s examination processes have become more transparent, addressing unethical practices and improving academic standards.
