Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) Gains NUC Approval for New Academic Programmes

Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce three new undergraduate programmes and higher degree programmes in two departments.

According to an official letter dated 23rd October 2025, signed by the NUC Acting Director of Academic Planning, Alhaji Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, the newly approved programmes will strengthen academic growth and expand study opportunities for students at OAUSTECH.

Management’s Reaction to the Approval

The Vice-Chancellor of OAUSTECH, Professor Temi Ologunorisa, described the approval as a major step forward for the university’s academic expansion. He noted that the new programmes would equip students with practical knowledge and help them compete effectively at both national and international levels.

He expressed appreciation to the NUC for the confidence reposed in the university and called on staff and students to support the full implementation of the new programmes.

Also speaking, the Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr Cecilia Oluwamodupe, praised the efforts of the university’s leadership and Governing Council, chaired by Professor Akinbo Adesomoju, for their role in securing the approval. She added that the development will enhance OAUSTECH’s visibility and attract more students and partnerships.

Benefits of the Newly Approved Programmes

The new Marine Science programme is expected to offer career opportunities that directly benefit the coastal communities around Okitipupa and its neighbouring areas. Students will also gain access to practical fieldwork experiences, research collaborations, and emerging industry prospects.

OAUSTECH will begin admitting students into the undergraduate programmes once they are listed on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
