Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has approved ₦316 million as bursary allowances for 8,750 verified students of Kogi State origin.
Law students from Kogi State enrolled in law schools across Nigeria will each receive ₦300,000.
A total of 201 law students verified by the Nigerian Law School will benefit, amounting to ₦60.3 million.
Undergraduate students in other fields will receive ₦30,000 each to support their education.
The state government has also awarded a foreign scholarship to Miss Favour Oluwatimilayo Toyin Adebayo.
Miss Favour, a student from Nasarawa State University, secured this opportunity through an exchange programme.
The scholarship will cover her tuition, accommodation, and other essential expenses while she continues her studies in Poland.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, disclosed these details during the presentation of a scholarship cheque to Miss Favour.
The Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Scholarship Board, Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji, highlighted the government’s focus on reducing financial pressure on students.
This initiative is part of Governor Ododo’s strategy to empower students and ensure academic success for the youth of Kogi State.
In October 2024, Governor Ododo approved ₦600 million for WAEC fees for 18,734 students in public secondary schools in the state.
This intervention ensured all students had access to education and critical examinations without financial hindrance.
The administration continues to prioritise education as a foundation for development and opportunity.
