RESPOND-AFRICA Fellowship 2021-2022

NIHR Research Partnership for the Control of Chronic Diseases in Africa (RESPOND-AFRICA) is now accepting applications from students from Africa for its 2021/2022 fellowship programme for postgraduate study in medical statistics or epidemiology. The deadline of the submission of applications for the RESPOND-AFRICA Fellowship is 22nd January 2021.

RESPOND-AFRICA Fellowship 2021-2022

The NIHR Research Partnership for the Control of Chronic Diseases in Africa (RESPOND-AFRICA), is a partnership between researchers, health policymakers and other stakeholders from Tanzania, Uganda, and the UK, conducting clinical and public health studies on the control of chronic diseases in Africa.

They are pleased to offer a fellowship opportunity as part of their capacity development strategy. The scheme will provide funding for 2 years. The first year is to study for an MSc in Medical Statistics or Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The second-year will be an attachment-based at one of their partner institutions in Tanzania or Uganda working as a statistician or an epidemiologist to gain on-the-job training in clinical, public health or population-based research in chronic diseases. Their focus at present is the control of hypertension, diabetes and HIV-infection. They are planning to expand to incorporate mental health in the near future.
