Role Overview
As an intern, you will assist in crafting proposals and concept notes aimed at securing funding for peacebuilding initiatives.
You will join a team that designs and implements programs across 17 countries, including those in the Sahel region, Lake Chad Basin, Great Lakes, Horn of Africa, Tanzania-Mozambique, and the Sudans.
Your contribution will span various stages of program development, including scoping, proposal writing, donor engagement, and collaboration with partners.
Each intern will focus on a specific region but may be required to assist with other areas within the Africa portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting proposal narratives, theories of change, program activities, and logical frameworks.
- Conduct desk research to develop accurate and current context statements.
- Support the development of strategies for fundraising and donor engagement.
- Analyse calls for proposals and conduct outreach to potential partners.
- Edit and review English and/or French proposals and communications for clarity.
- Represent the team in conferences, meetings, and events, and share detailed notes.
- Provide logistical and administrative support to the Africa Program Development Hub and country offices.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this internship, you should meet the following requirements:
- Hold a degree in a relevant field.
- Possess strong writing, editing, and communication skills in English.
- Be fluent in French if based in francophone Africa.
- Show interest and knowledge in peacebuilding or international development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Demonstrate an ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
- Have a self-starting and detail-oriented approach to tasks.
Desirable Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience are considered assets:
- Knowledge of additional languages such as Portuguese or Somali.
- Experience working with a non-governmental or non-profit organisation.
- Practical experience in program development.
- Exposure to international environments, particularly in developing countries.
Benefits
Interns will receive a modest stipend in line with local pay regulations.
