The Swedish Institute (SI) is inviting applications for the Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year.
This fully-funded scholarship supports women pursuing full-time master’s studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in Sweden.

Benefits of the Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarship
The SI Scholarship for Pioneering Women in STEM provides the following:
- Full tuition fee coverage paid directly to the Swedish university.
- A monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 to cover living expenses.
- A travel grant of SEK 15,000 as a one-time payment for international travel.
- Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) for professional growth and networking.
- Membership in the SI Alumni Network after the scholarship ends for continued development.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet these conditions to qualify:
- Be a female citizen of one of the eligible countries.
- Apply for designated master’s programmes starting in the autumn semester.
- Not be currently enrolled in a master’s programme at a Swedish university.
- Have no prior SI scholarship or degree from a Swedish university.
- Must not have lived in Sweden for more than two years before applying.
Eligible Countries
Female citizens from these countries are eligible:
- Bangladesh
- Indonesia
- Kenya
- Malaysia
- Nigeria
- Philippines
- Rwanda
- South Africa
- Thailand
- Vietnam
Applicants with dual citizenship must select one eligible citizenship.
Applicants from ineligible countries should explore the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals or other opportunities in Sweden’s scholarship database.
Application Process
Apply for the master’s programme through University Admissions.
Once you apply and meet the criteria, you are automatically considered for the scholarship.
Deadline
Applications close on 15 January 2025.
