Taraba State College of Health Technology Admission Requirements and Duration of Study

A. Diploma in Community Health (DCH)

i. Entry Requirements:

a. Fresh: Candidates must possess five credits level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE or NECO. Duration of Course: Three (3) years

b. Others: Junior Community Health Workers (JCHEW)/Certificate in Community Health (CCH) are also eligible to join DCH at 200 Level but must possess five credits level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. An aptitude test will be conducted for them latter. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

B. Certificate in Community Health (CCH) —- Certificate

i. Entry Requirements:

Candidates must possess five credits passes which most include: English Language, Mathematics, Biology and two others in not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE or NECO.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

C. Higher National Diploma in Environmental Technology (HND) —- HND

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess five credits level passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at SSCE, GCE or NECO in not more than two sittings.

ii. Duration of Course: Four (4) years.

D. Environmental Health Technician (EVT) —– Diploma:

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess three (3) credit passes including English Language, Biology, or Health Science plus any one from the following: Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Technical Drawing. A pass in Mathematics would be an added advantage and two any other passes in not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB & TC II pass but excluding Hausa, Igbo, CRS and IRS.

ii. Duration of Course: Three (3) years.

E. Environmental Health Assistant (EHA) —– Certificate:

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess four (4) passes which most include Biology, Chemistry, Health Science, Nutrition, Physics, General Science or Integrated Science at SSCE/GCE/NECO/TC II/NABTED Level. A pass in English Language is an added advantage in not more than two sittings.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

F. Diploma in Health Education and Promotion (HEP) —- Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Applicants for the programme must possess minimum of four (4) credits passes in GCE, SSCE, NECO or Grade II Certificate, which should include: English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science and any one subject but excluding Hausa, Igbo, CRS and IRS.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

G. Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) — Technician

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess five (5) credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry & Physics at not more than two (2) sittings within 5years at SSCE, GCE or NECO. Those with NABTEB result most possess credit in English Language, General Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics within 5years.

ii. Duration of Course: Three (3) years.

H. National Diploma Health Information Management (NDHIM) — Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must present five (5) credits which should include: Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

I. Professional Diploma in Health Information Management (PDHIM) — Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess minimum of five (5) credits which should include: English, Mathematics, Biology/Health Science, Physics/Chemistry compulsory with any other two (2) subjects.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (3) years.

J. Professional Diploma in Entrepreneurship & Health Management (PDEHM) — Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess minimum of five (5) credits which should include: English, Marketing or Economics or Commerce and any three other subjects from the sciences, Social Sciences, Arts/Commercial courses/subjects. A credit pass in Mathematics will be an added advantage.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

K. National Diploma in Medical Image Processing Technicians — Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) credits passes which should include: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings in SSCE, GCE or NECO.

ii. Duration of Course: Three (3) years

M. National Diploma in Computer Science —- Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess a minimum of four (4) credit passes which should include: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry in not more than two sittings in SSCE, GCE or NECO.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

N. Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics —- Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess five credits level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE or NECO.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

O. Diploma in Public Health and Disease Control—- Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates should have atleast four credits passes at not more than two (2) sittings in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, either Mathematics or Physics; Community Health Assistant Certificate or equivalent from recognized Institution and Candidates who are currently employed within the Primary Health Care Department of LGA or State Ministry of Health may be given priority.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

P. Diploma in Food Hygiene —- Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess five credits level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE or NECO.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

Q. Diploma in Health Education —- Diploma

 i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess five credits level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Science, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings at WASC, SSCE, GCE or NECO.

ii. Duration of Course: Three (3) years.

R. Pharmaceutical Sciences

a. Diploma in Pharmacy Technician —- Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess four credits level passes in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology English Language. In not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE or NECO.

ii. Duration of Course: Three (3) years.

c. Diploma in Pharmacy Assistant —- Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess three credits level passes in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and any other subjects and atleast a pass in Physics and English Language. In not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE or NECO.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

S. Diploma in Dental Therapy —- Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess four credits level passes in Mathematics and Biology or Health Science, and two other Science Subjects from Physics or Chemistry, Food & Nutrition and at least a passes in English Language is compulsory. In not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE or NECO.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

T. Diploma in Dental Technology —- Diploma

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess four credits level passes in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. A pass in English Language is compulsory. In not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE or NECO.

ii. Duration of Course: Two (2) years.

U. Diploma Pharmacy Technician

i. Entry Requirements: Candidates must possess five credits level passes in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and English Language is compulsory. In not more than two sittings at SSCE, GCE or NECO.
