Thomas Adewumi University secures NUC nod for MBBS, Radiography
Thomas Adewumi University has received NUC approval to run MBBS and Radiography programmes. This marks a major step for medical education in Kwara South. Read on for the full update.
Green light for new medical programmes
Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) has been given the go-ahead by the National Universities Commission to offer two new courses: MBBS (Medicine and Surgery) and B.Sc. Radiography and Radiation Science.
This approval follows a visit by the NUC in April 2025, where the university’s facilities and teaching resources were closely reviewed. Their findings confirmed what TAU had prepared for—full readiness to train medical students.
First of its kind in Kwara South
With this, TAU becomes the first university in Kwara South to run an MBBS programme. It’s not just a win for the school but for young people in the region who want to study medicine closer to home.
Equipped and ready
The university already has a well-fitted Gross Anatomy Lab and a Teaching Hospital in place. Both will serve as hands-on learning spaces for students entering these programmes.
Final word
This is a proud moment for the TAU community and a step forward for healthcare training in the state. The hard work paid off. Now, the real work of shaping future doctors and radiographers begins.
