The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), through its Centre for Petroleum and Energy Resource Economics (CPERE), is inviting qualified candidates to apply for admission into its Postgraduate Programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
These programmes are open to candidates from diverse professional backgrounds, including Social Sciences, Engineering, Geoscience, Management Sciences, Finance, Law, Education, Military, and Agriculture. The aim is to build a new generation of professionals with advanced knowledge in petroleum, energy economics, and related policy areas.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Energy Economics
General Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the following conditions to be considered for admission into the UNIABUJA postgraduate programmes:
- Possess five (5) credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, at O-Level in not more than two sittings.
- Doctorate applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Petroleum or Energy Economics or its equivalent.
- Master’s applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with at least a Second Class Lower Division or an equivalent qualification. A PGD in Petroleum or Energy Economics is also acceptable.
- PGD applicants must have a minimum of Third Class Bachelor’s degree or HND (Lower Credit) in a relevant discipline.
- All applicants must provide their NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
Programme Duration
Doctorate Degrees:
- Full-time: Minimum of 36 months
- Part-time: Minimum of 42 months
Master’s Degrees:
- Full-time: 3–6 semesters
- Part-time: 6–8 semesters
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD):
- Full-time: 2–4 semesters
- Part-time: 4–6 semesters
