UNIABUJA Creative Writing Postgraduate Admission Form 2025

The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) is accepting applications for professional postgraduate programmes at the Centre for Creative Writing for the 2024/2025 academic session.

This centre, established in March 2023, focuses on developing creative writing talent across Nigeria and Africa.

Admission Requirements

PGD and MA Programmes

• A BA or BSc degree from a recognised university with at least 3.0 GPA and 60% in research work in English, Literature, Theatre Arts, Linguistics, Journalism, Mass and Public Communication, History, Art History, Religious Studies, Philosophy, or Education.
• A social science degree or HND may be accepted if the applicant provides a writing portfolio and agrees to complete remedial coursework.

PhD Programme

• A Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing from a recognised university with a minimum 3.0 GPA and 60% in research work.
• A postgraduate degree in a relevant field may be accepted.
• Additional remedial coursework may be required for those with a PGD.

Programme Duration

• PGD: 8 months
• MA: 2 years
• PhD: 3–4 years
