The University of Jos has announced that the post of Bursar will be vacant by 14 February 2026. The school is now accepting applications from suitably qualified professionals to fill this key role. A Quick Look at UNIJOS

UNIJOS began as a campus of the University of Ibadan back in 1971. It became its own university in 1975. Located in Jos, Plateau State, the school enjoys a peaceful setting and mild weather that supports study and research.

Over the years, the university has played a key role in solving real-life problems across science, technology, the environment, and culture. It has partnerships with both local and international bodies, including a recent project with the French Development Agency to boost its digital systems.

The school runs 17 faculties with over 45,000 full-time undergraduates and around 8,000 postgraduate students. Its staff numbers are just as strong, with over 1,400 academic staff and more than 2,600 administrative and technical workers.

What the Job Involves

The Bursar is the university’s chief financial officer. Whoever takes on the role will answer to the Vice-Chancellor and manage all financial matters of the school.

The Bursar will be appointed for five years. If performance is good, there could be a one-year extension, but no more. Salary and benefits will follow federal and university guidelines.
