2026 Convocation Ceremonies Thanksgiving Service

General information

i) Mandatory payment (all graduating students)

Convocation fees should have been paid with the school fees for the session. Students who have not paid yet should pay using the amount shown on their portal.

ii) Purchase or hire of academic outfit (gown, hood, cap)

iii) Procedure for payment

  1. Visit the UNILAG main website.
  2. Click the “UNILAG payment portal” link.
  3. Select the right customer category (click Student).
  4. Fill the form fields:
    • Matric No.
    • Mobile Number
    • Email Address (optional)
    • Payment Item (pick “Hire of Academic Gown or Purchase of Academic Gown” from the drop list)
    • Amount
  5. Print the slip with the Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) number, then pay at any commercial bank.

Some students rush this bit and miss a field, it happens. A slow check before printing saves stress.

iv) Payment and collection dates (gown and order of proceedings)

Academic outfit and the Order of Proceedings will be available for collection at ULBS, CMUL, SPGS, Faculties, and the DLI, with evidence of payment (online receipt).

Graduating students should send a copy of the payment receipt to the correct email for their programme (for logistics), as soon as payment is made:

vi) Invitation cards

Graduating students are to download and print two (2) e-invitation cards for two (2) guests only from their live email accounts for entry into the venue. A soft copy of the Order of Proceedings will also be available for download.

vii) Return of academic outfit

All academic outfits should be returned right after the convocation ceremonies. Students who do not return the outfit by Monday, 9 February 2026 will need to pay the purchase cost (₦40,000.00) before clearance for certificate issuance.

viii) Collection of certificates

Graduating students are expected to collect their certificates after the convocation ceremonies.

Any certificate not collected within one (1) year after convocation will attract a demurrage charge of Ten Thousand Naira (₦10,000.00). There is also an extra charge of Five Thousand Naira (₦5,000.00) for every year the certificate stays uncollected.

ix) Alumni registration fee (Unilag Alumni Association accounts)

x) Registration to attend convocation ceremonies

Each graduating student will register via a link sent to student email addresses by Tuesday, 30 December 2025. After successful registration, students are to print the Access Code and present it at the convocation venue for entry into the J. F. Ade. Ajayi Auditorium.

Graduating students are encouraged to arrive on time for their allotted session. Doors will close once the programme starts and stay closed until the end of the programme.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on behalf of the Governing Council and the University community, congratulates all graduating students. Certificates will be ready for collection after the ceremonies, once students present the needed clearance.
