UNILAG 55th Convocation Ceremonies Details

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced the 55th Convocation Ceremonies, which will run from Monday, January 13 to Friday, January 17, 2025.
The event celebrates the achievements of students graduating across various programmes.
A pre-convocation press conference will kick off the activities on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

January 10, 2025 (Friday)
- Special Jumat Service at the UNILAG Central Mosque.
January 13, 2025 (Monday)
- Opening of exhibitions at 9:00 a.m. at the Senate Car Park near the J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium.
- Commissioning of three projects by Chief Wole Olanipekun, including:
- Centre for Herbal Medicine and Drug Recovery.
- 120-bed extension at Moremi Hall.
- Ultra-modern Learning Commons at the University Main Library.
- Convocation lecture by Dr. Tayo Aduloju on Universities as Hubs for Development and Wealth Creation, chaired by Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola.
- Groundbreaking ceremony for the School of Postgraduate Studies building.
January 14, 2025 (Tuesday)
- Award of first degrees, diplomas, certificates, and prizes for:
- Morning Session (9:00 a.m.): Faculties of Education and Social Sciences.
- Afternoon Session (1:00 p.m.): Faculties of Arts, Environmental Sciences, and Science.
January 15, 2025 (Wednesday)
- Award of first degrees, diplomas, certificates, and prizes for:
- Morning Session: Faculties of Engineering, Law, and Management Sciences.
- Afternoon Session: Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy, and Distance Learning Institute.
January 16, 2025 (Thursday)
- Award of postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees, and doctorates, including best Ph.D. thesis awards.
- Conferment of honorary doctorate degrees to:
- Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
- Mr. Kola Adesina.
- Mr. Fola Adeola.
- Recognition of Professors Emeriti: Professors Babajide Alo and Olukayode Amund.
- Presentation of the Gold Medal Award to Professor Victor Ariole.
January 17, 2025 (Friday)
- Long Service Award ceremony at Tolu Odugbemi Hall.
- Convocation play Langbodo by Wale Ogunyemi at 4:00 p.m.
January 19, 2025 (Sunday)
- Thanksgiving Service at the Chapel of Christ Our Light, UNILAG, Akoka.

Collection of Academic Outfit and Order of Proceedings
Graduating students must collect their gowns and Order of Proceedings from their respective faculties or centres:
- College of Medicine.
- School of Postgraduate Studies.
- Distance Learning Institute.
- University of Lagos Business School.

Seat Reservation
Seat reservation is mandatory for Days 1 and 2 via the UNILAG Convocation Access Portal.
- Access passes for Day 1 must be printed on January 9, 2025.
- Access passes for Day 2 must be printed on January 10, 2025.
No admittance will be allowed into the J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium after 8:30 a.m. for morning sessions or 12:30 p.m. for afternoon sessions.
Return of Academic Outfit
All gowns must be returned by Monday, February 3, 2025, to avoid a fine of ₦40,000.
Certificate Collection
Certificates are available immediately after the convocation.
Late collection will attract penalties:
- ₦10,000 for the first year.
- ₦5,000 for each additional year.
Alumni Registration Fee
Graduating students must pay:
- First degree: ₦5,000.
- Postgraduate degree: ₦7,500.
