About the University of Lagos
The University of Lagos was founded in 1962 by an Act of Parliament to advance learning and academic excellence.

Role and Responsibilities of the University Librarian
The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of UNILAG.
This role involves the administration of the University Library and coordination of all library services.
The Librarian reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor.
Candidates must have a vision for the library’s future, strong academic and managerial skills, and a deep understanding of modern library practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A good Honour’s degree in Library and Information Science or a related field.
- Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Library and Information Science from a recognised university.
- Certification by the Librarian’s Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
- Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
- At least 15 years of experience in university library services, with 10 years at a senior management level.
- A substantial record of scholarly publications.
- Experience in academic and administrative leadership.
- The candidate should not be below the rank of Reader Librarian or Deputy University Librarian.
- Candidates must be under 65 years of age by 14th March 2025.
Tenure and Conditions of Service
The successful candidate will serve for a period of five years, with the possibility of an additional year based on satisfactory performance.
Salary and conditions of service are in line with those of other Federal Universities in Nigeria.

Vision Statement
Candidates must submit a vision statement of no more than 1,000 words, detailing their goals for the University Library over the next five years.
