About the Orientation

This annual gathering is more than a ceremony. It is the point where classroom theory shakes hands with real-world practice. The theme for this year is “The Teaching Profession in the 21st Century: Between Theoretical Studies and Practical Realities.”

It serves as the formal launch for the teaching practice exercise involving final-year (400 level) students of the Faculty of Education.

Number of Participants

This year, the figures are eye-catching. A total of 2,170 student-teachers will step into the programme. Each of them is expected to complete a 12-week exercise that blends observation, classroom management, and actual teaching.

Why It Matters

For the students, it is not just another academic requirement, it is the stage where confidence is tested, chalk meets blackboard, and theories are stretched in living classrooms. For UNILAG, it reinforces the bridge between training and practice.

The orientation is not just about formality, it is the first step into a real test of what teaching demands.
