UNILORIN Christmas and New Year Break for Staff and Students
The management of University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has approved a break for staff and students. The break will run from Tuesday, 23 December 2025 to Friday, 2 January 2026.
This notice applies to the full university community. Teaching, learning, and most office duties will pause during this period. Many students see this break as time to rest, travel home, or just catch up on sleep. Staff members also get time away from daily work, which is welcome after a long session.
Staff Exempted From the Break
The Vice-Chancellor has given clear instructions that some groups of staff will not fully observe the break. These staff members are expected to remain available or resume duties when called.
The exempted categories include:
- Staff handling essential services such as University Health Services, Fire Services, Security Personnel, Porters, Works Department, COMSIT, and Corporate Affairs. These staff will receive their days off at a later date when suitable.
- Members of the university management team.
- Staff whose programmes are fixed for accreditation during the break period.
- Staff whose duties may be needed during the break and may be recalled if required.
Affected staff are advised to take note of these instructions and act as directed. Some offices may still be active, so students should confirm before visiting campus.
The message, issued on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, extends warm Christmas wishes and best regards for the New Year to all staff and students. It reads like a short pause before another busy academic stretch.
