UNIMAID transfer form 2025/2026: fees and steps
The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has started selling forms for inter-university and inter-departmental transfers for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This update came from a circular signed out by the Office of the Registrar on Wednesday, 31 December 2025. The circular says the transfer exercise is open to interested staff and students who want either type of transfer.
Some people call it “transfer season”. It’s basically that, just with strict steps.
Who the transfer exercise covers
The circular states that the process is open to:
- staff and students who want an inter-university transfer
- staff and students who want an inter-departmental transfer
So it’s not limited to one group. If a person plans to move from one department to another, or move from another university into UNIMAID, this is the route.
How payment and form collection works
UNIMAID requires all applicants to pay a non-refundable fee. Payment goes through the university’s Remita account, and applicants access it on the official UNIMAID portal.
After payment, applicants must:
- present proof of payment at the Bursary Department
- then move on to download the transfer form from the UNIMAID ICT Centre
That order matters. Pay first. Show proof at Bursary. Then collect the form from ICT. Simple, but don’t mix it up.
Approved UNIMAID transfer fees for 2025/2026
The university listed the fees by category:
- Inter-University Transfer within Nigeria: ₦150,000
- Inter-University Transfer from Abroad: ₦250,000
- Inter-Departmental Transfer (Voluntary): ₦100,000
- Inter-Departmental Transfer (Obligatory): ₦50,000
And yes, the fees are non-refundable.
Quick student checklist (so nothing gets missed)
- confirm the correct transfer type before paying
- pay through Remita using the official UNIMAID portal
- keep the payment evidence safe (screenshot + printed copy if possible)
- take the evidence to Bursary before trying to download anything
- go to the ICT Centre to download the transfer form
